Thank you for your interest in Cub Scouting!
• Time Commitment: One Pack Meeting (held in the Brinker Elementary gym) or Special Event per month, plus one to two Den Meetings or Den Outings per month. In addition, some achievements are completed by the Scout with his family.
• Special Events:
- Fall & Spring Campouts
- Scouting for Food canned food drive (February)
- Blue & Gold Banquet (March)
- Pinewood Derby Car Race and Raingutter Regatta/Space Derby
- Summer Fun Activities
- Great Plains District's Summer Day Camp (June)
• Uniforms:
- Tigers – Blue uniform shirt with orange neckerchief and slide
- Wolves – Blue uniform shirt with gold neckerchief and slide
- Bears – Blue uniform shirt with light blue neckerchief and slide
- Webelos – Blue or brown uniform shirt with plaid neckerchief and slide
- Rank cap
- Pack T-shirt (Class B uniform) is provided as part of the registration fee
• Finances: New Scouts pay a ONE TIME registration fee of $30. Our annual dues are $160.00. The dues are what it costs to run the pack over the course of the year. Your dues cover the following for each registered Cub Scout:
- Registration with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA)
- Boy’s Life Magazine
- Handbooks
- Awards
- Pack meeting expenses
- Pinewood Derby car kits & Raingutter Regatta/Space Derby kits
- Blue & Gold Banquet (Scout ONLY)- we collect money to cover costs for parents and siblings attending
• Volunteering: This is a volunteer organization! We ask that each parent help with at least one task over the course of a year. This helps to make all of the tasks smaller and easier to manage. Please check at least one area on the Volunteer Sheet where you are willing to help out. WE NEED ALL YOUR HELP TO MAKE THE PACK RUN SMOOTHLY!!

Checklist for New Scouts and Their Parents:
PARENTS:
• Complete and submit to Pack 283 the triplicate-paged application for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
• Submit one-time registration fee of $30 which includes Scout Handbook, Pack 283 t-shirt, subscription to Boy’s Life Magazine, and membership fee with the BSA. Please make checks payable to "Pack 283."
• Submit Pack 283 annual membership due of $160.00. Please make checks payable to "Pack 283."
• Purchase uniform items at the nearest scout store (see below local stores or shop online).
• Help your son learn requirements to earn the Bobcat Badge, the first step for all ranks in Cub Scouting.
SCOUTS:
• Get your new uniform ready – learn where badges are placed.
• Read your Handbook to learn requirements for Bobcat Badge.
• Have fun with your new den and Pack 283!!!
